What is Same Day Care?
Same Day Care appointments are for children and adults who become suddenly ill or have a minor injury and need to be seen quickly. These visits are designed to address urgent, but not life-threatening health concerns quickly.
When should I call VHP for Same Day Care?
Call us when you have a health concern that needs attention today but is not a medical emergency. Common reasons to call include fever, cold and flu symptoms, sore throat, earaches, minor injuries, rashes, or urinary symptoms. We can assess your needs over the phone and get you an appointment today.
What conditions can be treated with Same Day Care?
Our Same Day Care appointments address a wide variety of non-emergency health concerns, including:
- Colds, flu, and respiratory infections
- Fever and body aches
- Sore throat and ear infections
- Sinus infections and congestion
- Urinary tract infections
- Minor cuts, scrapes, and burns
- Rashes and skin irritations
- Pink eye and other eye irritations
- Mild allergic reactions
- Sprains and minor injuries
- Stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
- Headaches and migraines
When should I go to the emergency room instead?
Go to the emergency room or call 911 for life-threatening or severe conditions, including:
- Chest pain or difficulty breathing
- Signs of stroke (sudden numbness, confusion, trouble speaking, severe headache)
- Severe bleeding or deep wounds
- Broken bones or major injuries
- Loss of consciousness or seizures
- Severe abdominal pain
- High fever in infants under 3 months
- Allergic reactions with throat swelling or difficulty breathing
- Thoughts of harming yourself or others

Do I need to be an existing VHP patient to use Same Day Care?
We welcome both current patients and new patients. If you're new to VHP, we'll help you get established as a patient during your visit so you can continue to receive care with us.
How do I schedule a Same Day Care appointment?
Call your VHP location directly or our main line at (610) 969-4200. Let the staff know you need a Same Day Care appointment and describe your symptoms. We'll work to get you seen as quickly as possible.
What should I bring to my Same Day Care appointment?
Please bring:
- Photo ID
- Insurance card (if applicable)
- List of current medications
- Any relevant medical records if you're a new patient
Don't have insurance? No problem. VHP offers a sliding fee scale (insert SFS link) based on your income—no one is turned away due to inability to pay.
How much does a Same Day Care visit cost?
The cost depends on your insurance coverage and the services provided. VHP accepts most insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare. For uninsured patients, our sliding fee discount program makes care affordable based on your family size and income.
What are VHP's Same Day Care hours?
Same Day Care appointments are available during regular clinic hours at participating locations. Some locations offer extended evening and weekend hours. Call ahead to confirm availability and hours at your preferred location.
